So I once got insane about Ed McMahon and Publishers Clearing House. When did it change? Around 2005. It was still Publishers Clearing House but on oct 5th 2005 it becomes American Family Publishing. One notion I'm considering is that Ed McMahon DID do the ads so many of us remember for PCH. But he was not employed by them, so they could say he never worked for them. But they aren't saying he didn't advertise for them. It could be that his estate wants the connection dropped for some reason, so they can't mention his role as a spokesperson ...

So I think the confusion just comes from there being two publishing companies, Pch and Afp, McMahon and Dick Clark worked for Afp. There are references in different shows from the 80's and 90's depicting him delivering checks but none of them say publishers clearing house.
