Wintertusk crafted gear is a good alternative. But if you can farm ww, they are way better for the stats. Wintertusk has nearly the exact same damage as ww, but lower in resistance. But you said you struggle with survivability so I'm not quite sure whether you should use wintertusk or not.

Waterworks may be easier to farm for at first since you can respawn at least one of the bosses. House of scales is a bit more offensive gear, lots opt for the robe and hat from there.
