I prefer the full grip of the 23, the 30 has to use an oversize magazine base to accommodate my pinky; the gap between the mag base and frame is a pinky pincher (for me) , can be mostly filled with a plumbing o-ring. However, using "flush" fitting magazines, the 30 is potentially easier to conceal.

I now currently have a Glock 30s and it is a bit thicker but with it's standard 10 round mag it's about the same grip length as my Shield and I get 3 more rounds.
