I found a fix: Whoever is crashing needs to go into the video settings and tick the box for slow HDD mode, even if you're on a SSD. I think the problem comes from their character loading in before the rest of the world had finished loading for them, and that setting helps load everything fast enough to have everything ready before you're in. 11.

I fixed it by going into GOG settings -> Game features -> Overlay (uncheck box). after that i restarted the GOG client and launched the game, it loaded in a couple seconds. For Steam the option is under Steam -> Settings -> In Game -> Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game (set to off) I cant confirm it fixes the issue if playing via steam tho. 9.
