Received 8 Likes on 7 Posts. Take fortyfords advise and spray the heck out of the latch with WD40. The dome light sensor is in the door latch. Had the the oppisite problem with the dome light coming on for no reason when driving down the road. Just spray into the latch, no need to take the door apart.

On the bottom of the back hatch door you will see the lock mechanism. Put the pen or pencil in there and move it up toward the sky. The hatch is now locked and the dome light will go out.
