I bought a Kimber Custom recently. It's a full length 9mm. I've put roughly 50 to 100 rounds of Winchester white box through it and I've experienced multiple failures to extract the spent casing. It is more than just a tool, you need a specially machined guide rod for it. It is much simpler just to use the paperclip tool. As far as I can tell, it would be impossible to strip a 4" Kimber without a tool of some sort, due to the way the guide rod & spring are set up.
