Alternatively a ranged ranger as per the usual builds is fairly self explanatory. You could go a bit more interesting perhaps though to capitalize on the Close-range nature of the Horizon walker. Normal Longbow Ranger, Sharpshooter and Archery is fairly self-explanatory.

Horizon Walker is perfectly serviceable as a Ranger archetype... and with a decent build can be a strong mid-ranged damage dealer, or possibly a decent mobile front-liner. Haste is a wonderful spell addition to the Ranger chassis, and pairs well with Hunter's Mark.Ranger/Monk-Unarmed strikes let you use your bonus action. Ethereal Step is a bit mediocre, but only because it's 1 use per short rest.

Personally Horizon walker is one of my favorite subclasses for Ranger and would almost always want to take it to at least 11 for Distant Strike + Natures Veil which is just a very fun and versatile combo to me. Toss in a Steel Wind Strike at Ranger 17 as a form of an upgraded Distant strike and its just a lot of fun.
