I upgrade Sam's to 'administrator', can see mantis issue, no more access denied. My questions: 1.reporter should be able to view the issue in mantis, so is viewer, do I understand correctly ? 2.as manager or reporter, how come for Sam, he cannot access the issue ? 3.further, I want every one 'read only' on mantis, which permission I should give ?

Yes, I meant updating to a newer version. Even if you make a backup of config_defaults_inc.php before updating MantisBT you can get problems.
