Adjusting valves on a chevy 350.

Unfortunately, I don't have cam specs, as I bought my car turnkey and the seller didn't have the cam card. I'm just curious what a "typical" range should be for valve lash on a big block Chevy. (Iron block, aluminum heads). I checked, and the lash was .036 COLD, which according to my math is about .042 hot. That seems loose no matter what to me.The book says to adjust both valves on no1 in this position to zero lash plus half a turn.The valves on no6 would just be rocking.
